When visitors come to your site what do YOU want them to do?
Well in a perfect world they STAY and for as long as possible, right?
So what happens when they have distractions in their way?
They tend to follow those distractions…as anyone does.
The Biggest distraction is having “too many options to leave”.
Your readers see tons of links and OTHER places to find you and
your stuff..which can be a good thing, on the other hand if you are always POINTING
at places for them to leave… they have no option but to LEAVE!
So, I recommend “Re-Thinking Your Side Bar”!
Keep it on your home page or any other relevant pages, but remove it from
all other pages that you have.
If you want them to read about something on a page “YOU WANT THEM TO READ
ABOUT SOMETHING ON THAT PAGE” not lose their focus and leave.
If the right side bar is on every page, you are giving them permission to hightail it outta there!
Keep in mind, you need to link yourself to as many places as possible.
The more they find YOU the more likely they are to watch and read what you have.
THINK like a prospect and you will gain their FOCUS!

Can see the common sense Kim in what you have written. Am going to change my blog. Great to know someone is really giving top advice and not just waffle. Thank you.

Good point there, Kim. I’ve been thinking how to minimize the content of my sidebar now I just have to segregate the contents then. Thanks for the idea Kim.

Not often that I see/hear folks actually thinking through
stuff, and as you point out so well, it can make a difference!

What cool little tidbits that you share here!
I just changed my “about me” page to test it out and it looks pretty cool. You are a great example and a pretty cool teacher when it comes to this internet “stuff”.
You have that Joe and Franco (he and I go back to 2007) easy laid back style which is probably why your posts resonate with me.
Continued success!

Nice post Kim and you make a great point. I saw the title of your article on TribePro and made me think about my own sidebar. I think I’m good though.
